4 Day Colorado Road Trip – Photos Gallery

A look at the incredible wildlife and landscapes that make up Colorado.

These are some of my favorite moments from a 4 day road trip with my younger sister around Colorado.

We slept in a car, hiked four 14ers, through Rock Mountain National Park, visited Glenwood Canyon, Rifle Falls State Park, and Maroon Bells.

4 Days in Colorado | 14ers, National parks, State Parks, & More

Four days, four Colorado 14ers, miles of hiking, and nights sleeping in the back of a rental car. Our four-day Colorado road trip took us from the Decalibron Loop to Rocky Mountain National Park, chasing mountain summits, alpine lakes, wildlife, and as much adventure as we could fit into one long weekend.

The Decalibron Loop | 4 Colorado 14ers in One Day

We hiked the Decalibron Loop in Colorado, summiting four 14ers — Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross — all in one day. Starting before sunrise in late October, we battled cold, wind, and altitude to add four more fourteeners to Lyd’s list in a challenging but unforgettable hike.

Rocky Mountain National Park | Dream, Emerald, & Lake Haiyaha

We spent our second day in Colorado hiking through Rocky Mountain National Park from Bear Lake to Dream Lake, Emerald Lake, and Lake Haiyaha. With frozen trails, bitter wind, and plenty of sunshine to chase, this 7.59-mile loop took us past some of the park’s most beautiful alpine lakes before ending back at Glacier Gorge.
